Travel nursing is a great job that allows a licensed nurse to fill nursing positions for a short time.  They normally go to hospitals that provide direct patient care.  There has been a large increase in travel nursing jobs because of the severe shortage of nurses in the United States.  A travel nursing program will give you the freedom to set your own pace and to make your own choices.  If you want to be able to discover new places while you continue to work, then this could be the ideal job for you.

There are a few basic requirements you will need to meet before you get into travel nursing.  You will need to have one year of clinical experience and be licensed in the state you are employed in.  A nurse in a travel nursing program will normally work under a short-term contract that will last between one and six months.  Sometimes extensions or an offer of a permanent position is offered by the hospital when the contract is up.

Someone in a travel nursing program will normally be provided housing and reimbursement for their travel expenses.  The hourly pay is generally higher than that of the permanent staff; however, the benefits are fewer.  There could possibly be some tax benefits to being in a travel nursing program if you maintain a permanent residence while you are working.

Becoming a traveling nurse can be an exciting change in your career.  If you are getting a little run down from the day-to-day work of your normal nursing job, then becoming a traveling nurse can be just what you need to bring the excitement of doing your job back.  Become a traveling nurse today and put your career on a whole new road.
